Svendborg Architects has teamed up with Japanese architect Junya Ishigami for the winning proposal, The Cloud.
Junya Ishigami is the founder and CEO of junya.ishigami+associates in Japan. He was born in Kanagawa, Japan and graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music with an MFA in architecture in 2000. In the same year, he joined the office of Kazuyo Sejima & Associates. He founded junya.ishigami+associates in 2004, and in 2010 he became an associate professor at Tohoku University.
His practice has won several awards, including the AR Award for Emerging Architecture (2008), The Bauwelt Prize 2009 for KAIT Workshop, and the Golden Lion for Best Project of the 12th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale for his “Architecture as Air: Study for Chateau la Coste” (2010).
Johnny Svendborg Andersen has 19 years of experience. In 2007 he established Svendborg Architects ApS.
Johnny Svendborg is an architect from the Danish School of Architecture and has worked as a sketching architect at CF. Møller Architects in Berlin. For ten years he worked as sketching, designer and chief architect at Henning Larsen Architects prior to being artistic director of 3XN Copenhagen department for a year. Johnny Svendborg has won awards in numerous architectural competitions and guided architectural teams of up to 30 people.
