The Cloud wins House of Peace Competition

The Cloud wins House of Peace Competition

Located in the harbour of Copenhagen, House of Peace will be an interactive landmark and unique space for individual reflection.

In 2013, House of Peace invited three teams to participate in a design competition. In 2014, Junya Ishigami and Svendborg Architects were announced as the winners with their proposal, The Cloud.

The board explains the reasons for choosing The Cloud:
“Junya Ishigami and Svendborg Architects’ unique winning proposal lives up to every bit of the vision that underlies the project,” says Morten Langebæk.

“This is nothing less than an architectural masterpiece. A fascinating, poetic building and a clear symbol of peace. A building, sculpture and symbol all in one. The snow-white cloud seems to float on the water. In its own way it brings nature and its landscapes into the city. The cloud stands as a positive, welcoming landmark and a symbol of peace,” he adds.
